Ever Had NASAL or SINUS SURGERY ??? ??? How'd you come out in the end?

I just had sinus surgery this last Thursday in an effort to stop the 6-7 infections I'd get a year despite taking plenty of Rx's...

Anyone have a story to share about your success? (or lack of success) following sinus or nasal surgery?

:bounce: please post :bounce:

1. A friend of mine had some...
to unblock his nasal passages. His voice is no longer ultra-nasaly, and I think he is MUCH happier then he was before the surgery.

2. Our school secretary had it last fall...

She too had many sinus infections a year and was chronically miserable. Turned out she had a benign tumor and after it was removed, she's been symptom free. She said the tumor had a wicked collection of mold, etc. That was enough! I didn't want to hear anymore. She feels so much better and that's the important thing.

edited for spelling.

5. well... It's not a tumor...
... at least that's what the CT scan said...

Amazingly, I already feel it was a success... I still have packing in my nose (to get the tissue to heal in a more near correct form) YET I can breathe just as well as previously.

The true test will take longer though... Will I have the regular infections that must take a long term toll on my corpus overall.

here's hoping :bounce: more comments?? anyone anyone??

3. I Had Surgery to Repair Deviated Septum
I remained conscious for the entire procedure, which I could expand to a chapter in a book describing torture techniques.

Glad I had it, though. Remarkable difference, being able to breathe through both nostrils. I had lots of sinus trouble before the operation, but opening the airway alleviated the congestion with which I had contended my entire life.

6. Glad I Spared the Gory Details, Then!
That sort of thing has to be overlooked, considering the long-term benefit. As I said, I have no regrets.

7. you should bleedinheart!
I'm already feeling like it's well worth the difficulty...

that and my surgery was much less invasive than has previously been required.. I've already stopped any visible bleeding... with only a little 'post-nasal' discharging left...

The packing should be removed middle of next week.. then the final healing will begin.

13. I've had it three times...
The first time, to remove a polyp. Second time, to remove mold tumors.
Third time, to widen sinus cavities and fix deviated septum.

Much improved (I used to get daily sinus headaches) but not 100%. Still, I'm glad I had the surgery. Just make sure to irrigate your sinuses with saline every day after you're healed - it'll help. You might also want to try grapefruit seed extract in your sinus rinse. It's supposed to be really good.

I'll look more into it.

Glad your outcome is still positive... despite the # of attempts required to get there.

8. I Can't Let This Pass Without Telling the Story of a Coworker
He was an avid dirt-biker in his younger days, and the years of breathing dirt had caused his sinuses to rebel by growing a polyp. This caused several years of distress - to him and those close enough to experience his horrible breath! He finally had surgery to remove the polyp, which he begged the doctor to preserve in a glass jar for him. He had the gall to bring this thing to work - like a kid brings a pet to show-and-tell in kindergarten!
:wow: :puke:
He caught a lot of flak over that; I told him, 'have you given it a name yet?'

16. My husband had a deviated septum repaired 20 years ago
It made a huge difference! The surgery was no fun, but he recovered in a few days and I don't think he has had a sinus infection since then even though he has terrible allergies. He take a combo antihistamine/decongestant every day and it keeps things under control.

19. I have a good friend it did NOT work on
she has some fairly bad health 'luck' though-the 25 year migraine, the neuroma (a foot ailment) that came back after surgery, then the non-disappearing sinus prob, which kept her off planes. She had the surgery and it was misery before, during and after. and the problem did not go away. I hope your problems are solved by the surgery.
