Do you have a favorite brand of tea?
I can't drink coffee because of the effects it has on my digestive system, but I drink a lot of tea.

For mass market teas (ie tea you can find in most grocery stores) I like Twinnings of London and Ahmad of London. For harder to find teas, I like Whittard of Chelsea (their green mango tea is divine).

I bought a package of loose roasted green tea from Yamamotoyama at Uwajimaya while I was in Seattle that I have found to be exceptional (especially when brewed in a Bee House teapot).

1. Twinnings is fine
I'm partial to English Breakfast and Earl Grey. MMMM Tea, now I want some, yummy.

I've been buying a wonderful brand called Tazo the reincarnation of tea...delicious.

19. I just discovered Tazo myself a few months ago
I've not ever been a huge tea fan, but I could damn sure turn from being a long time coffee snob in to a tea snob with Tazo teas :9 Most excellent.

So now instead of drinking coffee all day, all night, I switch over to drinking Tazo tea after dinner. Tonight it's Wild Sweet Orange :9

2. Here are my choices
My daughter gave me Triple Leaf White Tea for Christmas, excellent.

I usually drink green tea -- these are my favs. Salada (also available in decaf) and Stash premium green tea.

Just heard on one of the health radio stations this morning the sweeter tasting a green tea, the healthier. I've not heard this before, but there are green teas that do taste sweeter then others. I rejected the sweet tasting as an additives, maybe I was wrong.

Green tea makes excellent ice tea too. White tea is new to me, will make white ice tea this summer.

By the way, the lighter the tea, the less caffeine. White tea and green tea have the less caffeine, black tea most caffeine.

4. I forgot to mention
I am a fussy tea drinker. I prefer tea leaves compared to tea bags, I have my own China tea pot with the little cups. There is a difference in taste when drinking tea from a mug or reg. cup compared to a tea cup.

3. Tazo makes some very nice teas.
Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market carry the brand. I particularly like their cinnamon spice tea, which has anise and some other yummy spices in it. :)

7. Stash Tea, but I dislike Earl Gray tea
My favorites are the chai spice and the English Breakfast, and I'm also drinking my daily cup of Republic of Tea decaf green tea.

21. You should try
Inko's bottled iced teas. They're all made with white tea and use a small amount of sugar (not corn syrup) and the flavored ones actually have real flavors in them that aren't sickeningly overwhelming. I used to like Snapple, but I'll never go back! :hi:

11. Tazo for green teas
Their China Green Tips and Zen (green tea with a touch of mint) are decent, but their black teas are disappointing. I do not like their Earl Grey very much, and that is my favorite varietal.

Twinings Earl Grey is okay, but it is definitely better to go outside the mainstream with tea, as with coffee.

The best tea I ever bought was in Victoria, B.C., and came in a little wooden box. I cannot remember the brand.

I do not care for Stash - which is a triumph of marketing over taste. Them and Tazo have the "good tea" image market cornered. If not for their green teas, I would consider Tazo the weaker of the two. They are like the Folger's or Maxwell House of teas.

14. Fairtrade single estate teas are nice
and the growers don't get ripped off either. They sell a lovely Nepalese tea that's best drunk without milk or sugar.

15. If you like green tea
try the genmai-cha. Stash has it. It's a mixture of green tea & brown rice, and it's got a really rich flavor to it. Very healthy stuff.

I am all about loose green teas. Love 'em all, but genmai is my fave.

16. Right now, Lipton
I know, I know.

But its the first green tea I have ever had and I like it a lot. I just got it the other day. It does have a slightly sweet after-taste, although no sweeteners have been added (according to the label).

I'm going to try some of the brands suggested here.

18. P G Tips is quite good
I like Twinings also.

Tazo is good too.

I bought this huge thing of loose tea at Central Market on the advice of the tea stocker when I went to buy PG tips. He recommended because it tastes like PG. It is great tea, and came in this big paper wrapping similar to a 4 pound sugar package, all written in Hindi, so I have no idea what the name is. But it is good.

I like Darjeeling and Jasmine, for varietal teas
