News flash! Meth is bad!
Wow, I never would have guessed! I guess that warranted a special "investigators" segment on our local FOX affiliate. I am reminded of the Onion article about the foundation for figuring out really obvious things.

God forbid they actually INVESTIGATE something... Jesus Christ.

1. I'll Be Sure to Put That in My 'No Shit, Sherlock' File
Meth is a scourge of society. Unfortunately, I don't see a turnaround in willingness to make, sell & use this terrible stuff any time soon.

2. LOL! I was a social worker from 1993 to 2000 in ...
San Bernardino County, California, the birthplace and methamphetamine capitol of the World. At one point, we were all going to wear t-shirts (us and the police) that proudly attested to the fact that we worked in the per capita murder winner nationwide - until the mayor got wind of it. I saw horrors and abuse that it would take me a weekend to tell you about. So, it always cracks me up when I see a special called 'methamphetamine - the new danger' or 'methamphetamine - it's dangerous.' And I saw once that cracked me up: 'Meth - study shows it rots your teeth." That was definitely a 'no-duh.'

I'd say 99% of the time that children had to be removed from the home, methamphetamine abuse was involved. It was like it turned 'on' the 'evil' switch in the human brain.

5. yeah, we had a presentation at school
it's a rural area, so there were some labs found... the speaker was cool, he even said he didn't care if kids tried weed, just that everyone should stay the hell away from meth. We saw pictures of guys who carved away their arms and skulls with crowbars because they thought there were bugs crawling in their skin...

At least that's the impression I get from the local news coverage from every small town in the midwest.

7. My neighbor in Vegas...
Edited on Sun Feb-20-05 10:51 PM by liberalmuse
was apparently hanging out with people who did meth. She came home to find her entire house trashed, and a lot of stuff had been stolen, including her car. The police found it a few days later, turned into a meth lab. It's laughable to me that our government is spending billions to eradicate reefer, but in a sense, turning a blind eye to the meth scourge that has been sweeping this country for over a decade. I remember about 15 years ago, I was living in a small town in NE Ohio, and a huge house blew up because the owners had a meth lab in the basement. Body parts were everywhere on main street. Sad.
