My Hunter S. Thompson story.
When Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas first appeared on film I was the projectionist working in the morning. I fucked up the cue tape on the lights down cue. It was the morning it opened. They had sound but no picture for about 30 seconds into the film. Some guy came out and demanded I rewind the film. The booth was visible to the public. I told him it was impossible to rewind the film. The dude freaked out and was screaming about getting upstairs and kicking my ass. I was on a balcony and he was downstairs. He started climbing the poles to get upstairs but our huge manager heard the ruckus and pulled him down.

R.I.P HST -- I loved your books..

1. Shoulda told him it was the bats that made it seem out of sync.
This is bat country you know!!!

(an oblique reference to organized religion, baseball, and the American dream, imho)

2. Hindsight is 20/20
Next time your solution gets the green light and my limp wrist dropping of sour patch kids can be avoided. It is infective and costly. SPK cost more by the pound than RAM.

3. HST did so much
for the world of literature and journalism. He is a presence that will be missed.

From the 2004 election....

Nixon was a professional politician, and I despised everything he stood for -- but if he were running for president this year against the evil Bush-Cheney gang, I would happily vote for him.
