So, what's the Morning Lounge Crew's thoughts on the Simpsons last night?
I thought it was great! I am glad that the writers decided to fill it with full-lip male-male and female-female kissing. ALso thought the story of Marge being all for gay marriage but not so sure with her sister was a very realistic and well done story-line, esp. with her final defense of her sister NOT to marry the guy.

Overall, I give it an A+

1. All in all, I thought it was a disappointing episode.

A few nice teasers throughout (is it Krusty? Lenny & Carl? Barney?), but for the most part it was a mediocre episode.

2. I'm sorry, I think the writing's so lame nowadays
Although this would have been a great topic for a show, it just wasn't funny (to me).

I think the Simpsons jumped the shark a while back and this was just a desperate attempt to seem edgy and street-wise.

3. I loved it.
So far I am liking this season. I didn't like the bake-off episode that followed it, but I'd seen it the first time it aired so I knew it wasn't very good.

I liked that last night's episode poked fun at the whole "it says so in the Bible" thing. "What book...The BIBLE". I also like that they pointed out that Selma, a straight woman, had been married 4 times (sanctity of marriage). Finally, I appreciated that they made it so Patty didn't just throw her sexuality away (like in say...Chasing Amy). She was born as she was, couldn't change that.

4. I'm with Rabrrrr, I thought it was great and the show is still funny to me
This episode showed tremendous courage given the country's bigotry and homophobia.

I still laugh my ass off at new episodes and hope the series continues ad infinitum. It continues to be a better show than 99% of what is on now.

6. It was a great show - not sure how it has "jumped the shark"...
the writing is still as funny as it ever was. Classic episode last night.

5. I loved it
Homer's wedding chapel was a hoot-- plus, the fact that you can go online, pay $10, and become an ordained minister points out just another facet of how ridiculous the whole "marriage" argument really is. If it's so "sanctified", why can it be done by any idiot with $10 and an internet connection?

I've never really thought of the Simpsons as anything other than a half-hour of stupid gags, so the whole 'edginess' thing doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I was laughing during most of the show, so I'd say it was a success.

7. Having Springfield legalize gay marriage to....make money!
That was a stroke of genius--pure Simpson's brilliance, subtly pointing out
that the bottom line with most issues is the almightly dollar.

I would be surprised if it gave a few anti-gay Morans some ideas about
how to pay their bills, now that Bushco has outsourced their jobs!

Just ask Jeff Gannon how unneccessary it is to practice what you preach.
