PC Experts: why does my computer do this?
When I want to save a picture to my c drive sometimes it saves as jpegs and others as bitmaps. Even when the address ends in .jpg it still saves as a bitmap. I want jepegs because the other takes too much memory.

1. What method of saving are you using?
Right clicking in a browser? Using "Save As" in a program of some sort?

2. Saving an image doesn't allow you to change its format
You need an image converting program for that.

3. I've had this happen to me..................
the "save as" option only gives you a .gif option, as opposed to the .jpeg format that you want to save it. I figure this is some proprietary process in Windoze. When this happens I just pull the image into MS Paint or PS and change the format there.

6. I've had images save
as bitmaps, but if you then put the bitmap image in an e-mail and send it to yourself, the e-mail image will save as .jpeg. Strange, but true.

7. Sometimes you can fix that
by clearing out your browser cache. It often works for me, anyhow.
