1. Yes
Getting them ALL the time. Also got one from the bank where I am a customer, to an email address that they could not have possibly obtained. Someone needs to come up with some sanctions for people who do this type of thing.

2. Yes. Usually a couple a week. They work so well, lots of thieves
are doing them. Never click the button for any of these, including Paypal and Ebay.

I understand about 25% of the people that get these respond. Goodby savings and checking and anything else they can go after.

3. Yes, I've been getting this a lot lately, too.
Only in my case it's Washington Mutual and Huntington Bank.

These people are pathetic and annoying.

4. Most of the proxies are in Korea.
As soon as one gets traced down, they shut it down another one springs up in a different part of the world.

7. Get 'em all the time...
and what I do is forward the email with, ALL the headers, to the institution. Many of them have teams set up to work on this.

Most of the time.

Sometimes, I look up the originating ISP and forward it to their abuse team if they seem like the types who might take action.

It's gotten to the point that any script kiddie who finds a warez site can set up one of these phish scams without working up a sweat.

Eudora and Opera now have routines to warn of the site isn't a real one, and they work on the most obvious ones.
