2. We had a cockapoo growing up-he was REALLY smart
and very protective. He wasn't a chicken at all-in fact, he thought he was much bigger than he was. Ramsey was a great dog-RIP.

5. Our dog has other problems.
She is six months old and still has a potty training problem. We also taught her how to shake hands for a treat. Now she always holds her hand up for no reason. Any suggestions?

8. they can be slow to housebreak
but how are you doing it? If she's lifting her paw all the time....she wants a treat all the time. She'll learn.

9. We started out by
Giving her treats after going outside. She seamed to be doing well until our Christmas tree went up. Then she started leaving presents under our tree. That was about the same time we got our late first snowfall. Also with the hand shaking we don't give her treats unless we ask here to shake. We catch her on the other side of the room holding her hand in the air. She also follows my wife everywhere around the house.

4. A Big Chicken? I Know a FEARLESS Cockapoo!
I was a volunteer in a literacy program, and I needed to get some materials from this woman who was a coordinator. She has cerebral palsy and needs crutches to walk, so it took her a while to answer the door. In the meantime, her cockapoo, Precious, awoke and didn't like the looks of me. He was on a long leash, giving him lots of leeway for chasing my ass all over her front porch. She finally got to the door and started yelling, 'Precious! Stop that! Precious!!' I firmly believe that he would have shredded my ankles if she hadn't arrived; I can only do the Curly Shuffle in reverse for so long.

6. My cockapoo
is 12 and isn't an alpha but will protect the territory...although if someone broke into the house he might just lick them to death.
He's very well socialized loves kids, women, men other dogs. He's not crazy about puppies...he's 12. He's VERY smart. Lots of fun.
Has your dog been socialized?

10. I had one years ago and he was the sweetest baby
Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 11:23 PM by shesemsmom
the only trouble I had out of him was he loved to chew up things while I was gone and the little girl dog next door was attracted to him while out on his chain. She would not leave him alone and the neighbors let her run lose, when she got prego they wanted us to pay the vet bill for her c/section. Ha come on she was in my yard and they didn't even try to tie her up. Nope we didn't pay the bill. Big baby yes he sure was.

13. My family used to have one...
She was a piece of work. She had a messed-up underbite and was dumb as a box of rocks, but very sweet and loving. Yappy, though. And once when I went away for summer camp for two weeks, when I came home she had totally forgotten who I was and barked at me like a stranger for days until she got used to me again.

She lived to be about 15, and by the end of it she'd been hit by cars three times and had a gimpy leg, she was totally blind and deaf, and she just kept going until the very end. Brave little Puffy.

14. It's very sad
when dogs die. They become part of the family.

15. It is...
My parents have a bull mastiff now. God, I'm dreading her passing, because my dad is utterly devoted to her, and she to him.

17. Yes! A smaller one.
The best watchdog I ever had.

He is the palace guard and, not coincidentally, named after royalty.
