10. Her Computer Went Down

Couldn't do her homework, had to drop a few math classes because of it and couldn't post on DU. I just took her to Best Buy, bought one and dropped them both off at her front door.

End of story so far...although I'm unmarried and she is pretty durn cute.

It was kind of like the GD Forum when I initally asked; go this, do that and forget the other---all good advice, but why does everyody take everything so damm personally and why do you forget the initial intent of the query?

In the face of conflicting advice with no definate answer, I took her ass out to Best Buy and "knowing" she wasn't on line...put my money where my mouth was.

What the hell, someone needed to break a 10 year run of bad-luck anyway. I just hoped I helped a little.

My Mom left with me with a few bucks and our friend has been having an extended run of bad luck with little help outside the welfare system until she discovered DU.

I'd much rather bury a small portion of my inheritance helping out a friend once or twice than to feed the insatiable need of funding for Dimbo and his faith-based charrities.

Besides, she's both nice and cute, no matter what she believes....

I just think that was a lovely thing to do. I have seen much generosity on DU, like the sharing of information and sponsorship, but this is just extraordinary. No, I know that we are better than the Freepers. This is proved everyday, by some act of kindness or generosity on DU. I also think it's great that you say you thinks she's cute. corarose has been having a bit of a nosedive in confidence about her looks, lately. I already knew she was nice. As are you, Don_G, no criticism intended.:shrug:

22. I Don't Think It's Extraordinary

It's something my Mom taught me to do a long time ago and a value my 94-year old Grandmother still teaches.

If you're in a position to help out a friend, why not?

Her hit on self-confidience dates back 10 years and more, but I didn't disbelive in her then and, after understanding more of the factual data after several conversations, I think my inital impression was right.

Besides, she's cute as all get out and dosen't understand why anybody would like her after "her" failures in life.

And I helped out a little because I believe in her, but she has also got to believe in herself and her talents to succeed in the long run.

If only we could listen for a change instead of running "our" mouths off in an area we're unfamiliar with; like Chicago traffic around Wrigley Field for example....

Well, talk to her. Maybe she can tell where you can stay and catch the trains after you score Cub's tickets for the World Series at Wrigley Field.
