Favorite deli sandwich
I am eating my corned beef, swiss on rye w/ horseradish and am enjoying it immensely.
What is your favorite deli sandwich?

Oh, and my artichoke salad tastes mighty fine also.

2. Oh, to travel back in time 25 years
to the now-vanished Hockey's Delicatessen in New Brunswick, NJ for one of their corned beef sanwiches on real rye, with cole slaw and a real sour pickle on the side. And a Cel-Ray tonic. Drool.

3. Sandwich I had in Vermont - Fire and Smoke
Smoke turkey covered in cajun seasoning with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and jalepino peppers on a sub roll with garlic horseradish mayonaisse.

Vermont Sandiwch Company - Winooski, VT. Every time I was in town on business, that was lunch.

23. Bennigan's Monte Cristo Sandwich

Ham, turkey, swiss & american cheeses on wheat bread - then it's battered & fried till golden brown, dusted with powdered sugar & served with red raspberry preserves on the side for dipping.

Not the healthiest choice, but definitely the tastiest.

24. Massive thin-sliced corned beef on rye...
Edited on Tue Feb-22-05 01:47 PM by Hand
with some yellow mustard. Hot and steamy, needless to say. With a kosher dill on the side. Has to be at least an inch thick. Ai yi yi...

A nice (if somewhat messy) alternative is Romanian pastrami with cole slaw...

Aaargh--must have it now.

:9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9 :9

ON EDIT: I should add, of course, that this must come from a true kosher deli that's closed on Saturday. Anything else is adulterated goyim nosh.

25. 1) New Orleans Muffaletta, followed by
2) Philadelphia Cheese Steak Hoagie (from Pudge's in East Norriton, not that dreadful Pat's Steaks in South Philly. Yuck.)

3) Corned Beef Special (Swiss, coleslaw, Russian dressing on rye. Not grilled like a Reuben.)

4) No list can exist without the Reuben.

32. Roast beef, rondele cheese and sprouts
on whole wheat or multi-grain.

Better yet on an Amaroso's kaiser roll, but not everyone is fortunate enough to live in the geographic realm of Amaroso's, the best rolls i the world (they're what makes it impossilbe to get a good Philadelphia cheesesteak anywhere outside Amaroso's delivery area)
