DO NOT USE FANDANGO FOR MOVIE TICKET PURCHASES
I'll admit, I'm the first person to not go through her credit card purchases with a fine-tooth comb - but this month I did and I found a doozy of a problem.

Back in July I used Fandango to purchase some tickets for Fahrenheit 9/11. The movie had just come out and we wanted to get tickets to go see it without risking the movie selling out. No big deal - I'l try Fandango.

I pay for my tickets and in the purchase was an area about joining their frequent buyer program. I took a quick glance and found that for more tickets that you purchase you could earn free tickets. I figured why not - if I like Fandango enough I'd be happy to take advantage of their program. So I check off the service, not realizing that in the fine print of the purchase was a notice of a $9/month fee to use this service. Plus I never used Fandango again after the F9/11 purchase because they charged a service fee of $1 per ticket. I didn't mind for this one movie - but figured I'll just buy them at the theater when I need them.

Personally, I think this service is a giant size ripoff and wanted to let folks know about it. I was able to cancel my account and got a refund on my money.

1. Hey Lynne be careful make sure you read the fine print
Sorry I didn't have time to read the whole post but that is always good advice. I hope this helps.

2. You and Me, both, Lynne!
Nightnurse is constantly whacking me upside the head:spank: for not checking the "fine print" all though she's been guilty of some real doozies herself:evilgrin:

3. It's a ripoff just because of the service fee
There's really no convenience factor that makes the effort worthwhile. You still have to drive to the theater and stand in line to get your tickets.

5. Technically no
they have a machine there you can swipe your credit card through again and the tickets will pop out there.

But still, for $1/ticket - I'd rather just wait in line and buy them myself

4. I've had no problems with them
I only purchase tickets to movies, and I don't bother getting involved with their frequent buyer program. As for the $1.00 service fee, to me and the wife it's worth it, we could be standing in line for up to an hour and end up with crappy seats once we get inside the theater.

So $2.00 dollars for convieniance is worth it.

6. I feel the same. For 1 buck, sometimes its worth it.
I just don't check on any of their "deals."
