5. Absolutely.
I can't imagine anyone else playing that role now in any convincing way. They'll always seem like cheap imitators.

4. I voted for Jeremy Brett, but Basil Rathbone rocks as Sherlock too
I watched Basil play Sherlock as a kid on the Sunday morning TV matinee movie and loved him. I did think that Jeremy's partner who played Watson was more in tune with Conan Doyle's version of Watson that Nigle Bruce's interpretation.

I agree, he was a superlative Dr. Watson.

6. Jeremy Brett IS Sherlock Holmes. That Show Is The Definitive Holmes
He nailed it utterly and completely. It's no contest. Those adaptations were also the best, most accurate one's. They were truest to the original stories. Highly recommend those shows to all fans.
