You're right. Many strippers are only strippers and don't want to be treated as if they are today's special at the meat market. (But nor do prostitutes.) That said, when I was working for an escort service, the majority of the women who worked as escorts (higher class whore with a better income) were strippers.

It's an easy mistake to make. The real issue is treating people with respect. Any sex worker runs into the dominant social paradigm that sex is nasty and anyone who does anything related to it is fair game. I was told when I was younger by a much older man that whores were no different than anyone else providing a service. You don't hire an electrician and look down on him/her for being an electrician and assume he/she will also paint your house.

Which seems to be what you are saying. Strippers are not whores. They have a job and they either do it well or they do it badly. So I agree with you. But the way whores are treated in this society (and most others) is a real sore point for me, having been one.

About the contact or lack there of that you may have with the dancers. If you cross this line, at respectable clubs, you will be kicked out. Regardless of whether or not some or many strippers do some prostitution does not mean that they all do or that any at a particuliar club do. Some clubs are associated with illegal activity, but some are not. If you go to a strip club, you can and should only expect the entertainment that they provide. That is their job.
