Are There Any Comprehensive Prescription Drug Identification Guides Online
I'd like to be able to verify that my prescriptions are being filled properly by comparing a photo of a KNOWN example of a prescription drug to what I actually get.

I've Google'd and Yahoo'ed it, but any online sources I locate appear to be nothing more than online pharmacies (with very little info) or text-only drug interaction info sites.

2. Physician Desk Reference or PDR
But be carefu. Different companies that make the same drug will make the drugs look different. For example Haldol, the pill form can be white, green and I think blue

9. It's Ben Browder as "John Crichton" From The Sci-Fi Series "Farscape"
The distinction of being a second-generation astronaut came, for Crichton, double-edged. After earning his doctorate in Theoretical Sciences, Crichton spent his time as a scientist/astronaut in his famous father's shadow, always trying to impress and please Jack Crichton, but never forced to scrabble to make a name for himself, since he was born into the legacy without even lifting a finger. When his experimental mission aboard the Farscape One module shot him through a wormhole, Crichton found himself definitely not in Kansas anymore. Here, he was at last forced to call upon the heroic qualities he'd inherited from Dad but had never needed to use. Crichton's natural leadership and decision-making skills make him an important member of Moya's crew; his complete lack of cultural understanding of alien races and technology makes his "heroics" just that much more difficult.

8. The PDR Should Have Color Pics
Edited on Thu Oct-09-03 06:16 PM by Don_G
And are seperated by the manufacturer and/or drug as I recall.

On Edit: A good library should have the PDR in their stacks.

11. There's also a book that's at most pharmacies
even drugstore pharmacies--they have it by the pharm desk---it's not the PDR (which is an excellent reference, btw)---I don't know the name of it, but it's generally got a white cover with pictures of pills on the front.

That'll have a list of all Rx & OTC drugs (I know for a fact RX--pretty sure on the OTC part) and pictures of them in their brand name & patent form.

If your Pharm. doesn't have one, ask the pharmacist and they'll tell you where to get one.

It's a handy thing to have around the house, and it's generally updated once a year. My great-grandmother had one on her all the time b/c she was on so many meds and had a prob with the Pharm. giving her the wrong Rx one time--the only way she knew the difference was because the pills were a different colour. The names were very close, as was the doseage---only prob was her med would have helped her--the wrong med that she was given would have killed her.

Check out B&N or Amazon as well if you want one for home use. OTherwise, a library should have a good copy just for reference

:)

7. Try Medline Plus.
It's a government site but pretty extensive.
