8. A little of both....
Both companies have compelling characters. Both companies have handled those characters well at times and badly at other times. I am not a loyalist to either DC or Marvel. I like them all, when they are handled well.

Of course, my standards of what constitutes a good handling of a character don't seem to be in line with those of the general readership. I have had the feeling for years that the publishers are determined to destroy everything I ever liked about any of their creations. I guess I must be getting old and grumpy. :)

9. DC
I'm sorry, but Batman throws it heavily into DC's favor. Ther's also the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman (not my favorite, but you can't argue with how iconic he is), and the mature Vertigo characters like Sandman, Constatine, and Swamp Thing.

10. Marvel's Ultimate line rules pretty hard.
It has gotten me back to reading monthly books after a 10 year layoff.

11. I'll say Marvel, though my favorite comic is DC
I don't like playing favorites. Read both. Enjoy life.

13. DC...
No Superman, arguably no superheroes...Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's creation sparked a trend that led to all the other super-powered costumed crime-fighters.

Then there's Batman, who, in the right hands (Frank Miller, Alan Moore), makes all the other superheroes look sick in comparison.

Then you have Green Arrow, Green Lantern (well, the old Green Lantern, anyway...I've never gotten over them killing off Hal Jordan), and so on...

Oh, and just for the record: as a company, Marvel sucks harder than Linda Lovelace trying to get off. (Check out what they did to Jack Kirby. Or how they consistently fuck over their fans, for that matter.)
