My pet still loved me, even after I...
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 03:28 PM by yvr girl
tossed my kitty into a snowbank to see how far she'd sink. The snow was new and soft so she sank to the bottom (and landed on her feet apparently.) She emerged from the snow, and flicked her tail vigorously for a time. Soon though, she was curled up in my lap, purring.

On Edit:

C'mon people - share your stories. I'm not the only one who tested their pet's love.

3. I was a kid
I never toyed with a semi-decapitated mouse. That's mean.

4. and it was just a snowbank...
not a snowblower, snowmobile, or any of the various other snow related objects that could have done serious damage to a kitten.

Relatively speaking, she was super nice to that kitty.

6. My professional opinion
is that both you and your kitty should seek counseling. This is obviously a dysfunctional relationship with you showing signs of a typical kitty abuser and your kitty suffering fom Abused Kitty Syndrome.

I can send you a list of reputable licensed counselors in your community. Curiosity (killed the kitty) Management courses are available, as well as support groups such as Pet Owners Anonymous. Please get help now, while you both still can.

Khash.

How would you like someone doing that to you? How old are you? That is a very childish act.

13. I was about 10
I was a child, so childish behaviour is to be expected.

Note to self:

Should have used the dressed up the dog in sweater from grandma story.

11. my kitty kat jumped up on the back of the stove just as I
turned on the burner. she promptly burst into flames and went screeching through the house with me chasing her trying to beat out the flames with a potholder.

She was in my lap purring an hour later with only one whisker left on her whole head and a double mohawk down her back and an armadillo tail, but no blisters.

My other methuselah cat - Miss Kris, 21 and going strong, decided one day to take a nap in the clothes dryer while I ducked into the kitchen. I was sitting at the computer a short while later halfway across the house (the house was in one of its renovations and had floorboards up in the den for new flooring), when I heard a thump, bang, yowl, thump, bang, yowl in the far off distance. I thought gosh that's noisy, I better go close the door into the laundry room and the second I stood up I realized what was making the noise.

I took off running (was on phone with SO) and stepped right on a plank of wood with a three inch nail sticking out of it, pulled it off my foot and sprinted into the laundry room. I got the cat out - she was April Fresh and very fluffy . . . and starting to go into shock. Meanwhile, there was my blood on the walls, on the ceiling, and rivers of it on the floor and I was starting to go into shock too, plus with the adrenaline I was jetting blood out of my foot.

Long story short, the cat recovered, I did the wound repair on my foot myself (I won't give ultra gory details unless you're into all that) and neither of us died.

Make you wonder about movies like "Final Destination" though, doesn't it?

16. April fresh and very fluffy - I'll never do laundry the same way again
That's a great story. I'm glad everyone lived through it. Poor kitty, poor you.

BTW, I heard it from a reliable source that kitty fur burns really fast and kind of blue.

12. that's one way to test a cat's love. toss her in a snowbank, and see
if she comes back. don't they say something similar about caged birds or something? that phrase always makes me want to :puke:

14. Love?
Not sure. You may just be an animate heat source to her. The fact that she can't associate the heat sources sporadic sadistic behavior with its heating function may be indicitive of her limited reasoning capacity rather than her profound love for you.

Just saying....

You and your kitty are both very lucky people.
