The 2003 Battle For The Nickel, one of the five longest rivalries in college football (look it up!!!), is at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, and all 13,500 tickets are sold out, but the NDSU student government was able to procure 190 tickets to be raffled off in 95 pairs. Out of over 1,000 entries, my name was one of those selected!!
I was tied up at football practice during the lottery tho (I'm a student assistant who doesn't travel), and one of the other student assistants had to stand there with my ID and another co-worker's ID, because only one of the three of us was allowed to go claim the prize should any of us win. After practice, I got my ID back, and found out I won!!! As a thank you, I gave my other ticket to him, because I only needed one ticket anyway.
This game is the PREMIERE annual sporting event in the Dakotas (both North and South). The freakin' game sold out in less than a week, and THANK GOD I didn't have to resort to paying 50 bucks for a ticket in the middle of a UND crowd from a scalper. I'll be in the "Sea of Yellow" of around 1,000 fans in the upper stands!!!
One more thing: GOOOOOO BISON!!!!!
