I hope to carry it out tomorrow night, but here's what I have done so far:
Ladies and gentlemen,
President Bush used the words 'children' and 'grandchildren' eight times in his latest State of the Union Address. He used 'future' four in both his State of the Union Address and the Inaugural Address.
What do children and grandchildren, the future, think about this? Speaking not only for myself, but on behalf of all America's youth, it is imminent to realize we are not just the future, but we are the future of America and we are guaranteed to our Constitutional rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
*Applause pause*
These rights cannot and shall not be legislated away from the current generation and the generations to coeme. With the recent plan of voluntary private accounts -- or let's call it what it is, voluntary privatization -- of social security. Whether or not you are for or against the idea, it is common sense that it will affect the next generation. Legislators in Washington have shwon their opposition to paying for social security with a tax increase on today's generation, so we, the youth, yet again get the bill.
Finally, I am a Democrat because I believe we are the party of the people. I am a Democrat because we are the party that proposed Social Security, medicare, and diplomacy before pre-emptive action. We are Democrats and we are dreamers who dream of a better world and a better America. We are the party of Purple-heart winners in Massachusetts to general practice doctors in California to car mechanics in Alabama. We are the party that stands up for America's youth. We are the Democratic Party who stands up for kids bullyed on the school playgrounds of Kentucky to civilians tortured overseas in Iraq. We are the Democratic Party and we are the party of America.
Thank you.
