Strep throat advice needed.
Friday I saw the doctor for strep throat (confirmed with instant test). She prescribed cephalexin 250, three times a day. The next day I felt dramatically better, but yesterday I started feeling bad again, over night I felt like my throat was on fire.

This am I called the doctor, they said I now must have a viral infection because strep isn't resistant to cephalexin (a quick internet search finds that to be false). They did offer to tell me that in person if I want to come in, I feel like shit and don't want to go in and be treated like a child. There also seems to be no point since their mind is made up.

My daughter has been perscribed eythromicin and minocycline for acne. Both were prescribed then changed when they didn't work last year. We had tons because the insurance makes us buy a three month supply. eythromicyn makes me sick, so I'm left with minocycline (100mg). But I'm having trouble determining whether it works for strep, and if so what the dose should be.

Would anyone to help the sick with advice? I'm sure I have enough for the full ten days.

1. DU is not a good place for medical advice.
Neither is the Internet.

2. Please disregard any advice you get on here.
DUers are not (for the most part) medical doctors. You should not be taking prescription drugs not prescribed to you, no matter what the reason.

3. Don't change the medication you have been given......
Without Your docotors permission. And finish everything you have been given. People who partially take their medication create new resistant bugs which become harder to treat.
