Bruce Willis: "Die Hard 4.0" has "something to do with computers"
http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/news/newsstory.asp?news_id=16580

empireonline: What’s with the 'point oh' in the title?

Willis: “Well, it has something to do with computers…”

empireonline: Good, good. Now we’re getting somewhere. And is it true that you might kill off the vest-wearing icon in this instalment?

Willis: “I’ve heard that rumour! I like keeping those things a secret. But they didn’t want my character to be killed in Armageddon. It was in the original script, but once they saw the film, they were talking about sequels. But I was like, “I want to stick to the original script.” I don’t know what the outcome of Die Hard 4.0 will be. It feels like it should be the last one. Right now, if I retired the series, I would retire undefeated.”

1. Bad Ass! I love hacker movies...
Two books. "Hackers", chronicles the history of hacking when only good was ascribed to that term and. " Masters of Deception". Real life people break into the phone company. For extra credit, "The Cuckoos Egg".

3. What, is he going to save a room full of servers from crashing?
Singlehandedly pick off 12 trojan viruses from inside a ventilation shaft?

Match wits with a 12-year old hacker intent on taking down NORAD?

Change a hard drive armed only with a plastic spoon?

Troubleshoot a network bottleneck while fighting a DOS attack?

I could go on.

9. I loved the first one
The second one didn't even register for me, and I didn't even know about the third one. I guess I'm just not a fan of afterthought sequels to good originals.

10. The first Die Hard is IMO the best action film ever made...
Not necessarily the best film with action in it, but the best film for the sake of action.

8. So. Everybody know how to solve the 3 & 5 gallon puzzle from Die Hard 3?
I do. But I'll let a few people respond, see if they know it. No cheating?

There's a scale, an empty 5 gallon bottle, and empty 3 gallon bottle, and a limitless supply of water. Put a bottle and EXACTLY four gallons of water on the scale.

How do you do it?

11. I've never saw DH 3, but I'll give it a shot......................
tare the 5 gallon bottle, then fill the 3 gal full of water. Pour that h20 into the 5 gal. Record mass. Fill the 5 gal completely and record mass. Subtract mass of 5 gal bottle, then take the difference in mass and divide it in half.

Right?

15. Nope.
I should clarify a bit.

The weight on the scale needs to be the weight of one bottle, plus the weight of exactly four gallons of tap water, otherwise a bomb explodes and kills a bunch of children.

You now have forty five seconds remaining.

16. I got it.

You fill up the 3 gallon jug and pour 3 gallons of water into the 5 gallon jug. This leaves 2 empty gallons in the 5 gallon jug. Then, you fill up the 3 gallon jug again and fill the 5 gallon jug the rest of the way. This will leave exactly one gallon in the 3 gallon jug.

You then empty the 5 gallon jug, and pour the one gallon from the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. Then you simply add the remaining 3 gallons to the 1 gallon already in the 5 gallon jug using the 3 gallon jug. This will leave you with exactly 4 gallons.

:D

I don't think I could have figured this out under pressure (*boom*)

18. Yup.
That's one way to do it.

Another:

fill the five gallon jug.

pour it into the three gallon jug, leaving two gallons in the 5-gallon jug.

Empty the 3-gallon jug.

pour the two gallons into the 3-gallon jug, emptying the 5 gallon jug.

refill the 5 gallon.

top off the three gallon.
