Did God forgive Judas after he betrayed Jesus?

5. Also, next time you talk to him,
tell him that I only let him borrow my Phish albums, I didn't give them to him. I want them back!!!
Maybe dance around the issue, find a way to just casually bring it up...
thanks.

2. I would hope so
If Judas repented, I guess.

Plus, isn't it good that Judas betrayed Jesus to his death?

7. Its posting
I mean, come on. I would rather have fifty of Carlos' threads than even one about why Clark sucks, or why Dean sucks, or why Kerry sucks, or why Edwards sucks, or why ...

6. I doubt it
Before his death Jesus spoke of his betrayer and said that for him it would be better had he never been born. So appears that Judas neither sought nor received any forgiveness.

But I'm hardly an expert so who knows?

13. Yeah but my take on that is:
Isn't Judas' betrayal (which Jesus apparently knew about in advance anyway) the act which led to the crucifixion, which led to Jesus as a martar, which led to the forgiving of all sins?
So didn't Judas do a good thing?
I mean, he did it for money, but still I think he should be forgiven if his greed ended up saving mankind from themselves.

23. I think the point on this is not that
'Judas ultimately did a good thing so it's oki' - it's pointing to God that 'God can always turn evil into good'.

12. Judas hanged himself
So, from a Catholic viewpoint, it's not bloody likely.

15. Since the Catholic church and its theology didn't exist then, I don't
think him hanging himself counts.

Personally, I think all believing Christians owe Judas
a big thanks. Without him, nothing would have happened.
Also, if this was planned and "God's Will", then he
did what God wanted and should be thanked.

I think Judas got a bum rap. I also think he didn't
want Jesus to die. He wanted other things than his death.
I think him hanging himself, if he did, shows his sorrow
at what happened.

I also think posting about the historical Jesus is
not only interesting but allowed. Isn't it?

17. But the Catholic Church now teaches that when suicide is

committed by a person not in their right mind, it cannot be a sin. To sin you have to know what you are doing is wrong and do it anyway. Most suicides are not clear exercises of reasoned will.

16. Judas loved Jesus
And this is something no one seems to understand. But Judas was also the treasurer of the movement and he saw an opportunity to add to the funds with a simple act that he thought would end just as it had before when they tried to arrest Jesus. Jesus always got away.
Did Jesus forgive him? My guess would be yes, because he loved Judas and Judas was just doing what he was fated to do.
BTW I do love to talk about these issues but I do not know whether the others here will allow it because they think it has no relevance to our democracy. I disagree but yield to the majority.

The Bible itself is a very political book.

22. IF we're told this is inappropriate for GD, we can take it to the

Meeting Room. (The Lounge moves too fast and is too rowdy for such a discussion, I think.)
