1. Harvey Korman & Tim Conway rocked together...

I loved it when they'd lose it in the middle of a sketch...:D

26. That was just a good show
I enjoy shows like "Who's line is it Anyway", it seems really the only type of show comparable to Carol Burnett. I used to like Sonny and Cher as well. And Monty Python. :)

4. One of the most enjoyable hour of television ever! I used to watch as a
kid and think, "What a great job, they're having so much fun and getting paid too!!"

5. "Thanks. I saw it in the window and just had to have it!"
Bob Mackie's costumes helped make the movie parodies what they were.

What an incredible assemblage of writing and casting talent.

11. did you know...
that gag in Went With the Wind was the longest recorded live laugh in television history? According to Guiness Book of World Records, that sustained laugh lasted over 7 minutes...

I'm a freak for knowing that

13. I thought my mom would have a stroke she laughed so hard.
I'm snickering just thinking about it. How she managed to get that line out without cracking up is beyond me. I was howling!

21. True story...
My mom and I were living in a trailer, not doing extremely well financially, but we watched Carol every Sat night like clockwork.

Anyway, I remember so clearly that skit, it was so freaking funny, my mom's youngest sister called LONG DISTANCE from South Carolina (we were here in NC) just to talk about the Went With the Wind skit...this was back when calling long distance was a HUGE deal. I'll never forget my mom giggling on the phone with her little sister...

good times.

18. How fitting
It was the funniest gag of all time. Only WKRP's turkey stunt came close for laughs.

6. CBS had the best Saturday night lineup when I was a kid.
All In The Family
M*A*S*H
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Bob Newhart Show
The Carol Burnett Show

I loved Tim Conway and Carol's Mrs. Huh-Wiggins sketches. The movie parodies, especially Nora Desmond, were hilarious.

12. that's one helluva lineup
the only thing comparable in my childhood is NBC:

The Cosby Show
Family Ties
Cheers
Night Court
Hill Street Blues
--

Carol Burnet was before my time, but I always enjoyed the reruns when I saw them. Sadly they have been few and far between.

BTW, my Aunt Joan is a dead ringer for Carol Burnet. Tall, skinny and just a very similar personality. I have had more than one brain fart double-take in my head just watching that show.

She had IMO the most successful long running variety show. I have some of them on DVD and it is some of the most hilarious material I have ever seen.
