1. Do you remember on Happy Days when the Fonz...
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 11:35 PM by Maddy McCall
jumped a shark tank on his motorcycle? Everyone said that that was the beginning of the end for Happy Days, that it had passed its prime.

2. Remember that episode of Happy Days where Fonzi jumped
Over a shark with his motorcycle? That is said to be the episode where the show began its march to the grave. When someting jumps the shark, it generally means that it has become stale or just plain bad.

3. google "jump the shark" and you will learn more than youever
wanted to know about the phrase.

it refers to the point at which a show is on an irrevocable downhill slide.

named for the " Happy Days" episode in which Fonzie waterskiied over a shark, hence "jumping the shark"

and there are shows that never did jump the shark

5. I am probably the only 40 year old in the country who hated that show
So I never saw that episode. But now I know, and I offer a hearty thanks to all who answered my stupid question O' the day.
