understands that "average" is not the same thing as "median", and that half of a distribution is not automatically below "average".

Next maybe we could discuss how "intelligence" is not really a one dimensional measure. It is more like a vector, with people being above average in some areas and below average in others. I do not think it is funny to disparage people for their deficiences. I can usually find something at which they excell. But that's not funny is it?
