Is this a virus? "The connection was refused when attempting to contact -"
I am scanning for viruses now. Suddenly I can't access my web-mail. I can cruise around DU but can't get onto other sites that require login. What could it be?

1. it means the web-mail server is down
don't worry too much about it, websites go down and come back all the time.

3. It *may* be your ISP then
your connection may not be very good at the moment. If your surfing during high-activity hours for your area, the connection will go down. Assuming, that is, that you aren't on an unsaturated line (T1, T2, T3, some DSL)

5. Nothing to worry about...
Some ISP's router has probably gone down and it's easier to make you wait while they replace it than to actually try to reroute traffic.

Happens all the time.

Hammies!

7. The Net's been funny for me all day
Even here at DU, I'll get an "unable to find" message when I try to open a thread or post a message -- and then twenty seconds later, it's fine. The same thing with Google. I thought it was just me or my ISP, but perhaps there's something more general going on.
