I have my ticket to Bonnaroo!
neener neener neener!
I've been wanting to go for three years and now I finally get to be there! This is going to be such a blast.
Anyone else going this year or been before?

1. Cool
No, I've never been, but I'm considering going - need my Widespread fix (assuming they are playing it after their year+ hiatus).

3. I was pretty sure they were
They'll be in Chicago for three shows in a few months, so I haven't decided whether I'll just do that or try to hit Bonnaroo too.

I've heard nothing but great things about it, BTW.

4. As someone who lives closeby....
....arrive early. WAY early. Traffic on I-24 either side of the exit is a gawd awful mess from Thursday thru late Sunday night.

Even with the "improvements" they've made in traffic flow over the years since the first Bonnaroo, it's still like a 5+ mile standstill on the interstate in each direction.

Also, check Ticketmaster for other events in Nashville that weekend so as to avoid backups here as well if you're coming in from the north (I-65)or north/west (I-40 and I-24).

Last year was particularly bad, since Bonnaroo was the same weekend as the Country Music Fan Fair in Nashville (30,000+ out of towners plus a nightly stage show at the coliseum drawing 60,000 or so a night), as well as Nashville Superspeedway's Busch series event (add 35,000+ more just east of town on Saturday.)

Have fun!

Hammies!

12. Well damn it!
I always thought when a girl flirted with a boy he was suppose to give her stuff. I don't think I get this guy/girl thing at all! :silly:

13. Well, that can work
I might buy you dinner or give you chocolates or some crap like that. But a plane ticket and a free ticket to Bonnaroo? A girl has to do a lot more than flirt to get that from me! I mean, it would have to be a serious relationship, that's all I'm saying.

BTW - My Mom was born/raised in TN, I just moved here w/family in tow back in 1998. Love it here...except for some of the rabid neocon stuff.

17. I went last year ...
It was amazing -- I've honestly never seen anything like it before. The only complaints I had were the weather (it was either rainy & muddy or insanely hot & unless you go in an RV, it is inescapable) & the fact that I never really got to see one whole show. There were so many awesome shows going on at the same time ... so we bounced around from stage to stage.

So, my advice would be to take the time to stay & enjoy some of the great artists they're having this year -- and to get a garlic grilled cheese sandwich from Bearly Edible. Have fun! :hi:

19. Awesome
You get 100 coolness points for having gone last year.

I was planning on taking a tent, so that isn't such good news though.

The longer you wait the more they go up in price. Around $160.

25. Very cool!
How about, "I like to keep my Democrats Underground." I'll just say that to everyone who works there until I run into you. Of course, that will make everyone think I'm a freak, but they may happen anyway.

Can you tell me how the parking and camping situation works? Do they have a camping area away from the stages? Do you camp where you park? Do you have to pack up your tent during the day when you go to the show? I guess they'll send me more info about that eventually.

27. The parking area is pretty far away from the camping area.
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 07:53 PM by antigone382
It's sorta like this: parking on one side, stages in the middle, and campsites on the other side. It's a lot of walking, but it's worth it.

Edit: Oh, and the traffic directing security guards are really mean, but everyone else rocks!
