Looks like my DU posting will be sharply limited starting next week
I just got this email at work... DU doesn't specifically fall under any of the categories, I think, but I get the feeling that many sites will be slipped in there, including DU... so, no more daytime postings, I'm betting.

XXXX will implement the new filtering policy which will, among other enhancements, do the following:

DISALLOW traffic to certain categories of web sites (Adult content, gambling, etc.)
LIMIT the time spent on other categories of web sites which are at time used for business (shopping, etc.);
DISALLOW certain types of traffic that tend to use all available Internet bandwidth (video streaming, audio streaming, Internet radio, etc );
DISALLOW access to many Spyware and other ¡°hacker¡± sites.

Any attempts to access a blocked site (or one that is placed on a quota) will result in the user getting a message that this site has been blocked by policy.

1. Well, that sucks
Geez, what's left?

I'd be really upset if they blocked my access to streaming radio. I work in a cube farm that is noisy and need the music to block out the noise.

2. Our Weblocker is incredibly stupid
Cafepress is totally blocked, as are the ads about gambling placed on pages like the local newspaper site. It doesn't touch any political site. I could, however, see all the porn/gambling/obscene I wanted simply by using the Google cache option.

I'm buddies with most of my IT dept. I work in a cube farm, and when asked about "checking" net access, they all laugh. Typical overworked crew. Now if my boss WANTED to see where I went, she could. But I get my shit done proper, so she doesn't care.

3. That sucks.
:( The computer at my job filters it as well for content. I don't have much computer time at work (don't work on the computer either), but I have access and a lot of down time between 2-4am, but no luck.

5. I cann't read or post on DU or Smirking Chimp
at work either. Not having access to RadioMargaretiville would really suck.
