Indiana Jones 4: Good Idea or Bad Idea?
Admittedly, I'm not a Star Wars fan. I only liked "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back". But I am a HUGE Indiana Jones Fan and more than a little worried about this latest addition.

1. Movie: good idea; casting Harrison Ford: bad idea.
Indiana Jones should be like James Bond movies.

They should be made every few years, with a new Indiana every decade or so.

2. with the right script
good idea. They MUST go in a different direction this time around. Atlantis. Rennes-le-chateau. Roswell. Also, they gotta right Indy as being older. Take it out fo the 30's & into the late 50's or early 60's. Just my opinion, of course.

4. I did not know they made a "4". With Harrison Ford? OY! I think he is
a bit old..Perhaps he is going to play the senior role to someone playing his son...like the Sean Connery role in the previous I.J. movie?

5. They are making a 4, for 2006 with Harrison Ford in the lead.

6. I think it was supposed to be out in 2005
But Lucas vetoed the script, so they started over from scratch. I believe it will take place in the 50s.

11. An Indie movie set in the early 50's could be very interesting
Especially if they go for a sort of film noir / Third Man kind of ambience. Agents, counter-agents, counter-counter-agents, plots, deceptions, betrayals ... all that sort of thing would work really well with an older Indie.

On the other hand, if they try to do it as a pure action flick, it will be crap.

9. Good idea! IF...
...they write Indy as his age. Done right, it could be fantastic. Ignoring the fact that Harrison Ford is in his 60's, and trying to make him come off as a guy in his 30's or 40's, would just be painful.

On a semi-related note, I wish they'd bring out "Young Indiana Jones" on DVD already....

10. Yeah, but they're action movies...
I don't understand how they can make that transition.

12. That would be an awesome idea.
Older Indy taking place in the 50s or 60s. That would rock.

13. It would have been a good idea shortly after IJ & The Last Crusade
He's a little to old to pull off most of the cool stunts now though. Maybe if they wrote in a kid.

14. I don't think they should have made the SECOND movie,
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 02:39 PM by crispini
let alone the FOURTH. Ok, the third didn't suck quite so much as the second, but still, neither one of them can compare to the original. Snappy dialog, style, and plus, Karen Allen -- what a gal! That whiner in the second movie was NOT funny at all and just totally made me hate sitting there.

16. I'll give you that one
Kate Capshaw (Spielburg) and Jonathan Ke Quan (Shortround) were both highly annoying.

18. My understanding is that she is.
When approached with the idea, the plan was to cast Harrison and Karen reprising their roles as Indy and Marion - presuming that they did indeed stay together after stashing the ark in DC.

They could totally work in the age thing as Indy comes out of retirement for one last great adventure. I'm looking forward to it.

21. It might work
if he has a younger sidekick for the real heavy action stuff. Script and casting will make or break it, I think. (Duh.)
