1. Adobe won't convert scanned images to text
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 05:20 PM by Oreo
You would need OCR software for that. I've tried for many an hour to do it. Adobe can only convert a document that was originally converted from a Word document to pdf. If it was scanned (which this one appears to have been) only OCR can do it.

3. Those PDF's are not text-based so they would have to be scanned
and OCR'd. Could do it for you tomorrow if no one get to it today. That's the only way to do it - can't convert them.

4. When I need to save & post PDF contents (and it's a short PDF)
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 05:22 PM by BlueEyedSon
I get a good full page view (i run my monitor at 1600x1200) and do a screen cap. Then I crop, resize, tweak and compress to .jpg as necessary.

It ain't text, but it's not PDF anymore, either.

6. Acrobat CAN convert it to text
Acrobat Professional does have built in OCR capabilities.

Let me go to my other computer, and I will send you instructions in a few minutes.

9. How to get text
I think I misunderstood -- that you had a hardcopy you needed to convert. Forget that. You want to convert a .pdf to text, so you can open and edit it in WORD, correct?

How to get text: Open the .pdf file in Adobe Illustrator. In the document page/pages, you will find text boxes. Highlight them with the text tool, copy them, and then paste it into your Word document OR "Export" as .txt file within Illustrator.

7. Do you just need the text?
Or do you need the formatting too?
