No more Dope for Swiss cows
Bern - Swiss farmers will no longer be allowed to produce milk or cheese that could be tainted with cannabis, after the Swiss government on Thursday banned hemp, the plant used to make the drug, from animal fodder.

The ban from March 1 covers all types of hemp, a fibrous plant that is also used to make rope and fabric, because the different varieties all contain the psychotropic substance THC, the federal agricultural department said.

Swiss authorities only started looking at hemp more closely after an agricultural supplier advertised the plant as fodder with the claim that it improved the quality of milk.

Juerg Jordi, a spokesperson for the department, said milk was a natural product that should not contain mind-altering substances.
