Please use a crosswalk when crossing the street.
Some guy was just run over by a car outside my office window and he's not looking good at all. Why do people insist on walking across busy streets, mid block, when crosswalks are only a few hundred feet away? When it's car's vs. people, the cars ALWAYS win.

Poor guy.

1. He just died.
A police officer just walked into my office asking if any of us saw the accident (one of the secretaries did). Apparently the guy is dead and they're not moving the body until the coroner arrives, so now I get to sit here in my office and look at a dead guy lying in the road 25 feet away. Man, that's a lot of blood. :puke:

3. This gets more tragic, he was a 17 year old kid, and his mom was there.
Damn, damn, damn. They just wrapped up the investigation and took his body away a few minutes ago. The fire department is hosing down the street as I type this.

Apparently the kid's mom parked across the street to pick him up, and he was running across the street to her car when he was hit...his mom was right there and saw the whole thing. The driver was another young guy (probably early 20's) who they think MAY have been under the influence of something. The witnesses all say that the kid ran out in front of the car and that the driver couldn't have done anything, but that doesn't matter...if you're in an accident while under the influence in California, it's legally your fault no matter WHAT really happened.

So that's two lives destroyed because someone didn't want to waste two minutes waiting for a crosswalk light. Damn this is depressing...I need to go home and hug my kids
