4. thanks, I will pass that on to her. Hopefully one day she will
be able to make a living with her art.

She also writes, and is an apprentice tattoo artist.

12. Yeah--some of his stuff has that effect....
all his work hits me at a very emotional level, even his early stuff (which, for a while, veered towards the impressionistic) but his later, urban scenes really touch on a whole subterranean level of isolation and angst.

I think he was one of the true American Masters of the visual arts, but, because he painted in the realist style, I think he is sometimes dismissed as something less than a "serious" artistic genius.

He said once that he felt the realist style had never yet been fully explored, a sentiment I share.
