I think every American needs to have a major, invasive surgery.
They'll get put unconscious, have certain organs stopped while the doctor makes the critical repair as needed...

When the person wakes up, they can reflect on the unconscious time which for all things considered is death, and change their life accordingly.

I mean, if you were put under for 6 hours, 4 of which involved surgery, upon waking up, what would YOU think of?

Well, not all Americans. Just the ones who put personal profit, violence, and glory above all use. Politicians not excepted. Maybe the world would be a better place if we all knew how precious our lives are by experiencing temporary death. Then we wouldn't be so inconsiderate and selfish toward others.

2. Yipes. Glad to hear you're better!
I too had invasive surgery. On 28 January, 2005.

It was eye-opening... Even after 1 month of recovery, I'm still not yet comfortable with alternative reality, though I am no longer scared by death - which is the ultimate in any reality.

4. Yeah I guess I'm not THAT afraid of it anymore
But the further I have gotten away from the experience, the more 'back to normal' I've been.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. you need to take it easy for a long time. :hi:

3. I had my knee fixed....
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 10:14 PM by Sympleesmshn
I was under for 4 hours, remember puking in the recovery room, then waking up in my room with bad knee pain. I was out for 3 nursing rotations, over 24 hours.... I woke up and thought it was still 7:00, the time I went in for surgery. It was no fun at all. It still freaks me out thinking about my body being there but "I" am not... I wouldn't wish this on anyone...
