What car did you lust after as a teen?

Mine was kind of stupid. The 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT, followed closely by the 1987 Corvette.

21. Ha! I had a '73 Duster...

The struts actually rusted through the hood when I was driving it home one night. Freont end dug into the pavement, and I left it where it stopped.

I got it totally redone in 1982, since I got into an accident, soon after getting my license. A guy ran a red light and hit me, took the whole front off, but I just had to get this car fixed and back on the road. But the rust would not be stopped, here in the Northeast, and the private guy who did it over for me died, while still in his 40s. And a commercial shop wouldn't touch it, no matter how I begged. They make their money from insurance work. My right rear spring hammer rusted out. So I lost my car in 2001. And I still miss it. What a great car!:-(

When I was a kid my dad had a 72 Impala with a 454. 2 door. Then he decided to drive back from Lake Geneva without checking the oil. We got home, then the thing seized in the driveway. I got to inherit the 76 Impala with the 350 big block (but with a 2 barrel and tuned way down to conserve gas). That baby only got smooth at about 95.

I miss that fucking car.

I grew up in Marin county, California during the early sixties so muscle cars never made much of an impact in my life. My buddy's father was a top notch machinist and inventor but also built racing Porsche cars. One look, I was hooked, and one very fast spin over the mountain was nearly orgasmic for me when I was fourteen years old.

20. Lusting after a CAR?

I can recall lusting after a Connie, a Susie, a Janice, a Wendy, two Karens, two Chrises, a Debbie and a Cheryl, but a CAR?

Sadly, none of those girls ever let me get into them and drive them anywhere, but it never occurred to me to do that with a car, either.

Yes, I was a weird teenager. Why do you ask?

22. Of course the Covette....never was a Ford guy and then I saw a

70 Plymouth Road Runner with a wooden pistol grip shifter, I was hooked. Then the gas crunch hit so I bought a sensible Buick. I never lost the lust of muscle cars until I realized that those big old Chrysler & Plymouth boats were more comfortable and drove like one was sitting on his/her living room couch. I've presently own 2 big old Plymouth Fury's that I've rescued from the junk pile of time. I did have a Corvette it was more of a show car and I finally sold it back to the original owner after 7yrs. It now sits in a museum. I was a sleeper car guy a car that well looked too good to be fast, rather than a car that looked fast but had no go. I have an old 47 Chevy street rod that can really make some hay too. My present taste is still for those big old boats from a time when one could tell a Chevy from a Buick. I remember when we would skip school in Sept. when the new cars came out and would go around to all the dealers to see them released. Sadly todays youth have no idea how much cars meant and how male egos were stroked by those old time girl catchers.

But then I got one. I really loved that car, except in the snow. It was so much fun to drive when the weather was good. The bad thing about having a car like that is that as a young single girl, my friends ALWAYS wanted me to drive whenever we went anywhere because I had the "cool" car. I got rid of it when I had baby #1. Now I have the teen lusts for a red corvette. I'm turning the big 40 this year. What a great gift idea!!!

NOT the redneck TransAm-lol. I much preferred the Formula. And, yup, when I got my brand new one in '78, I became the chauffeur. First year with T-tops-mine was dark red metallic w/white interior. Sigh, got stolen tho....
This was all BC (before children) Now they're grown and I just got a '97 Camaro convertible...everyone is trading passenger cars in for SUV's and there's some great deals out there! Now if only it got better gas mileage.

43. Before my Trans Am I had a 77 Firebird!

It was that red metallic with a white interior. I think they called the color Firethorn metallic. That was my first taste of driving a fast car.

I used to work for a Pontiac dealership and remember that name-that's how I got my brand new 78 Formula, BTW. (I paid $6,800.00 for it-geeeze, I feel ancient) Mine was a darker red metallic-can't remember the name of THAT color tho...
Also had dark blue, another red, silver, buttercream yellow.
Currently, I've got a metallic emerald green Camaro w/dk grey interior and black top....ha, ha, ha! just realized that I paid about in the ballpark same as the 78!
