Had Jim McMahon and Steve Young.
I'm sure there was a third, but not sure of a name.

9. That is the correct back-up |
|
But I don't think that Frank ever started in a Super Bowl for the Bills. He did however start in the playoff games, I especially remember the great comeback game way back in the early 90's. It probably was the most fun I ever spent in Ralph Wilson stadium in all my years that I went to the games.

10. No, you're right he didn't |
|
But he was Kelly's backup, lead them Against the Oilers in the great comeback and in the game the following week. Then Kelly returned and they lost the Super Bowl (again).
I should have been more clear, sorry

Steve Christie in OT.
I remember the game was not a sellout and blacked out in Rochester. i listened to the radio until it became aparent Buffalo was out of it and went outside. Next thing I know my neighbour is offering to take me to his brother's place to watch it on satellite because the Bills had come back.

Steve Young, Jim McMahon, Marc Wilson (Raiders vs. Redskins).
I thought Daryl Lamonica went to the U of Richmond - maybe it was a different guy.

DL went to ND.
So that's it then.
Notre Dame
Brigham Young
and
Alabama.
Glad that's finished. Now I can turn my attention to more trivial matters.

16. Trivia:TWO kickoffs to start second half of Super Bowl 1 |
|
NBC and CBS televised the game. NBC was the AFL network, CBS the NFL. A fence had to be set up to seperate the two crews as fights had sprung up.
NBC was "in commercial" and missed the kickoff. They raised hell and the NFL told CBS to cut to commercial and they re-kicked it off. This may have set the precedent for the horrible:
Touchdown-extra point go to commercial Kick off go to commercial
The NFL and CBS prayed it wasn't returned for a TD, it wasn't. There was a 8 yard (or so) difference in the two returns so the NFL told both networks to tighten up the shot inside the yardage markers (possibly another horrible precedent) so no one would notice. No one seemed to notice.
