vansterdam?-do you smoke pot? been to vancouver? help me!

i am here to entreat anyones help that is willing to hand me some....i'm planning on travelling out west in the next couple of months, and one of my stops was hopefully going to be vancouver. having travelled to amsterdam in 2003, i thought vancouver would be a nice little reminder of what i experienced in all of those coffee shops...however, in all the reading i've done online about vansterdam, it seems like the police are cracking down on the ganja, and not many (if any??) coffee shops that actually sell cheeba are around (mostly i've just read that there are places that are 'smoke friendly' but don't sell).
i heard that Da Kine just got closed down...but basically my question is, where can i go to buy some sweet bud? is it worth it to go to vancouver (when i'm going on the basis of drugs) ?? any info would be appreciated about this, and if you have any other tips or ideas of things that i should do while i'm there (even if they're not drug related! i can do things without pot in my lungs you know :) ) that would be terriffic.

you were talking about--if they still exist.

I'll say this--go in August or September--the odds are the weather will be nice then (they don't call Vancouver "The Rainy City" for nothing!)--it is one of the most beautiful cities at that time of year--sunny days, and long sunsets where the mountains frame the skyline!

Especially because Vancouver's like a copy of Amsterdam. Club Vandersexxx was bad enough for me.

I don't think it is that people on DU are against pot per se, but those that are are understandably nervous about speaking up about it in our current political enviroment.

My only qualm is when people smoke pot every fricken day! That can turn you into an idiot.

i smoke pot everyday, and (at least in my opinion) i am not idiotic...i think its an enhancer, so if youre already an idiot to begin with, youre pretty much screwed when you smoke the ganj......but if you're smart, well then,, you're set on the intellectual scale....take hunter s thompson for example....
