4. Someone asked Pete about that a few months ago. |
|
Pete (paraphrase) "I fuckin' wrote 'em, I'll do what I want with them."
It bugs me too but I will forgive Pete a lot for all the pure joy he has given me for 40 years.

9. Oh I agree about forgiving him |
|
And I do understand that it's his music he can do what he wnats with it. I've been a fan since I was 14 I'm 44 now and I love the man like he's a part of my family. But it is disappointing to hear songs that are special to me selling cars. *sigh*

5. Nobody in the history of Rock has undertaken as many huge.... |
|
...unprofitable projects as Pete.
I mean, just the tab on all of the shattered guitars must amount to $$Millions$$.
Pete gets a free pass. Always.

The newest disappointing one is The Band's "The Weight" being used to advertise something or other that seems to have no relation to what the song's about.
Probably the worst is when Wrangler used CCR's "Fortunate Son" as a patriotic anthem to sell jeans. Wrong on so many levels: the choppy editing to cut out the song's message, the use of an anti-flag waver song as a pro-flag waver song, and the fact that John Fogerty doesn't own the rights to his songs so has no say in what kind of crap they are used to sell. The latter has to be the biggest travesty of all.
