Though, it has been pointed out that Independence Day was in fact a War of the Worlds remake....so I guess this one would be...

I don't know. What I *do* know is both movies have the almost identical "we come out in the street with all our neighbors to look in awe at the invading aliens" scene.

but always thought it would be cool to do a remake in the original time period it would was written in, namely the Victorian age.
