DVR suggestions needed
I am thinking of getting a DVR....

Should I go for broke and get the $499 TIVO/DVD recorder (I think it records 80 hours) or should I get the 80 hour Tivo DVR without the DVD recorder?

This is what I am thinking....

I buy A LOT of DVDs...if I could just record the movies from pay per view or from HBO etc then I would save money by not buying DVDs...that alone would make up the difference between the cost of the 80 hour TIVO and to Tivo/DVD recorder.

I know many DUers have a Tivo or other DVR....

Opinions (and DUers do not lack for those) please.

Thank you in advance.

2. get the one with the DVD recorder...
We have the DVR put out by Time Warner. I absolutely LOVE it! My husband completely pooh-poohed the idea when I told him they had come out with it, and didn't think we'd use it. When I brought it home and showed him how to use it, he was completely sold, and loves it too! The only thing I wish it had was a way to record direct to DVD. I too love movies, and especially classic movies. I love to record them on the DVR and watch them later. However, I don't have a way to get them onto a DVD. What I have to do is record them onto a video, then my husband has a system that will record the video onto a DVD. I really think you'd use the DVD recorder on the DVR... Good luck!

3. I would buy it.
I have Tivo without DVD recording but I think it would be worth having it.
