Northeast DUers! Plenty of cats still available (with pix!)
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 01:27 PM by KamaAina
As you may recall, KaMakuahineoKamaAina (or just plain "Mom") moved in with this Repuke guy who (typically) is only too happy to have her -- but not her cats!

And so, here now, for the first time on DU, are Buddy and Muumuu "in the fur":

Call now! (PM me for exact contact info) Supplies are limited...

Edit: Kept identifying info away from Asscroft/lurkers

1. I'm sorry, I have to ask
Why in the Goddess's name would you sacrifice your cats for the sake of a guy with crap politics and the emotional range of a lizard? I presume you do love your cats as people rather than possessions? If so, whatever makes you think, if he's insensitive enough to care so little about your feelings for them, that he won't dispose of you, too, once he tires of you?

2. Unless he has allergies
or some other medical condition that makes it unacceptable to be around cats, then you shouldn't be forced to choose between the cats and the guy.

3. He does claim to be allergic
although it is kinda funny how that came out only while Mom was packing up her apartment, and not on the many occasions he'd been over there previously.

Ah, these Repukes and their uncanny sense of timing...

The question before us today however, is this:

Is there a cat-loving DUer within a couple of hundred miles of NYC/Conn. who would be willing to profit from Repuke Guy's attitude by gaining the affection and companionship of these two felines?

5. hm... I smell a rat
uncanny sense of timing is right.

I wish I could help, but we have one very self-absorbed dominant cat and now is not the right time to try and get him to like other cats. and besides, I live too far away (North Carolina). Good luck. I hope they find a loving home.

4. Actually, you'd have to ask Mom: they're her cats (and Repuke)
I doubt she'd be happy with "the emotional range of a lizard". He's actually quite nice (for a Repuke).

She doesn't seem to be worried that he's about to dispose of her; he did, after all, just invite her to move in...

Poor Mom has tried everything to find a nice home for the girls. They are even considering one of those expensive "retirement homes"! I just thought it would be cheaper, easier, and more fun to get it done the DU way.

6. I'm sorry, I misread -- I didn't realise it's your mum, not you!
Your mum rescued the cats, has supported them for 3 years, and they're in early middle age? And this guy still wants her to get rid of them? That's bad. That's not a loving attitude at all. He could take allergy shots, if he really has allergies (like you and omshanti, I'm *very* suspicious about the oh-so-convenient timing of the disclosure!).

I just hope that your mum comes to her senses before it's too late, or at least that someone does adopt the cats.
