"Come and git it" - that new Burger King commercial
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 11:36 PM by Skip Intro
Its effin' genious.

Black cowboy (Darius from Hootie, I've been informed) playing guitar and singing about this new sandwich while he strolls thru a "Wizard of Oz" - ish landscape with trees bearing sandwiches and fries growing from the ground, while a few really happy cowboy-themed characters frolic on the hilly landscape as the King pushes in a swing on a hill a real southern beauty with a Dolly Parton/Hee Haw hairdo who swings toward the camera and says, in a drawl that you can't imagine (but is perfect), "come and get it"

If you've seen it, did it strike you in any way?

on edit...well, that's weird. I accidentally posted this in GD and in the few seconds it took me to delete it, it got two replies. I post it here in the Lounge, and it drops like a rock.

strange

1. It is eye-catching. The women are voluptuous, yet they
try to make them look innocent. Darius has such a smooth voice, but he doesn't look too happy about singing for BK. I have no idea what the song is about because the set is so visually stimulating.

2. I like it....
..because I like the song on which it's based. "Big Rock Candy Mountain."
Yes, it is an overstimulating commerical, but that's the point. It's like something out of a Japanese schoolboy's wet dream.

Ok what is up with the girls and the creme , and if you listen to the lyrics , where exactly is the creme flowing from ? Think about it . Listen to the lyrics and pay attention to what you are seeing .

8. He sold out big time
But I don't blame him.

What did he get? Seven million?

I don't know.

The commercial doesn't make me feel bad, so it is okay.

But it is not going to make me go to Burger King and eat.

11. Didn't sell out so much as fall fast
It's like MC Hammer on two Super Bowl commercials. I suspect VH1 is contacting him about appearing on "The Surreal Life."
