What is your favorite movie soundtrack?

I saw "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" and it had the best music I heard in years (esp. Search and Destroy). "Black Hawk Down" also had great tunes. "The Decline of Western Civilization" obviously had the best soundtrack.

41. "Alexander Nevsky" by Prokofiev

Some critics say it's the best ever.
It's a magnificent marriage between film and music. Prokofiev watched that day's shooting and wrote as he went along. The director, Eisenstein, would alter some of the film's editing to suit the music.
The preparation for the "Battle on the Ice" and the battle itself, with it's orchestral build, it's what makes it memorable.
I bought this soundtrack because I liked the film, I didn't expect it to change my entire perspective on music and introduced me to a love affair with 20th century classical.
