I made Associate of the Month!

This morning we had a store meeting (we always hold them on Sundays at 6am, which kinda sucks if you're scheduled for the 11am-8pm shift like I am today, but I have tomorrow off so that's okay).

At the meetings, they issue awards: department-level associates of the month for each department, which earns you a merit badge--get five and you get $100 in your next paycheck; and store-level associates of the month (sales associate, operations support, cashier and department head), which is $75 in your next paycheck.

I got Building Materials associate of the month (and since I had four merit badges already, this makes five) and Sales Associate of the Month.

I thought it was cool.

Recognition in the often-difficult customer service industry is a bright spot amongst the daily BS. I always enjoy reading your stories about the unbelievable things customers say and do.

My favorite one was the woman who wanted to buy enough lumber and supplies to build a house that day without first having the necessary plans and permits!
