Okay, I am trying to get sponsored to go to a World Affairs Seminar at UW- Whitewater. The application says to attach a "short statement on why you want to attend and what you hope to gain by attending"

How does this sound? Pretty hokey, and I sound like an egomaniac because every sentence starts with "I"

Why I want to go and what I expect to gain- World Affairs Seminar Application

The World Affairs Seminar fits with all of my interests a great deal. I love traveling to various nations and learning about other cultures. I follow world events closely and am concerned about the status of the globe in general. I have visited many countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. I visited the United Nations headquarters in New York City with great interest. I pay attention to the intricacies of interactions between nations and cultures. By attending the World Affairs Seminar, I believe I would be entering a great place to foster my curiosities and interests in World Affairs in the great atmosphere that the World Affairs Seminar seems to provide. The World Affairs Seminar would hopefully expand my horizons through meeting new people and talking about world issues. I would be honored and privledged to attend.
