1. This review made me laugh:
Reviewer: Spacy Bickerson (Cincinnati)
Do not buy this book! Other reviewers have shown what is wrong with this book better than I can. I will tell you that his picture of Greenland Society is completely at odds with the known history of the Norse Society that florished there for over 500 years. Basically Diamond is a doomsaying tree hugger who is relying on the ignorance of the average person to push his political adgenda. The best place for this book is in the compost heap.

3. it IS funny. especially since
in the introduction Diamond explains both his environmental views as well as his work FOR big business (who have asked/hired him in the past to evaluate their environmental practices)

it really is wonderful so far

4. whenever I see screaming negative reviews on 'zon
I always click on the "see all my reviews" button. Invariably, they are just screamers, who complain about every book, and never post a positive review.

Although the two best 'screamer' reviews, this one and the 'adademia-trash' one did have some positive reviews, for wingnut books, poker schemes and get rich quick day trading guides.

lovely.

2. Wow...That Does Look Good
I'm trying to read "Wealth and Our Commonwealth" by William Gates Sr. and Chuck Collins. Then it's onto "The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight" by Thom Hartman.
