Movies that should have won Oscars, but didn't.
One of my all time favorite movies is Doctor Zhivago. It was nominated for an Oscar in 1965 but lost out to "The Sound of Music"

Any other's you know of?

3. You got a point there
but I did like Dances With Wolves, some years I'm guessing it must be hard to choose just one.

GoodFellas, however, I have seen 3 times...even bought the DVD. Excellent film.

4. "Network" SHOULD have won Best Picture...instead of that boxing movie.
That was just unbelievable. "Rocky" is a boring, crowd pleasing movie. Well, I wasn't part of that crowd, but it was popular.

"Network" was sheer genius.

6. Didn't Raging Bull miss out on an Oscar?
If I recall correctly it did. If so it was a cinematic crime of the first degree.

12. The Two Towers.
Now hear me out, lads and lassies. I don't mean it should have won Best Picture. I mean it should have won for Achievement In Makeup, or whatever that award's called.

Because it lost to Frida. The extent of the ground-breaking makeup in that movie was putting a unibrow on Salma Hayek. The rest was just standard Hollywood shite.

Two hundred Uruks, a couple dozen Morgul Orcs, fifty Elves, a Dwarf, and a king going through several stages of aging in a few seconds is more impressive than a unibrow.

16. Malcolm X
wasn't even nominated. Neither was Spike Lee.

Denzel was, but he didn't win, in one of the greatest disappointments I can think of.

22. PULP FICTION
It took home one Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, which is more than can be said of The Prince of Tides, among others.

But Samuel L. Jackson should have clinched Best Supporting Actor. The soundtrack deserved an Oscar, too. And although I loved Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, I think Travolta deserved the Best Actor award at least as much as Hanks did. Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Bender fished Travolta's career out of the toilet.
