it's Friday afternoon,
I get to crawl under my house again this weekend, and the DUer who kept me here a year ago when I was ready to quit has herself gone AWOL.

x(

Who's opening the damned bar?

:hi:

a friend wants me to paint the inside of her house, and an architect wants to give more drafting work, that will keep the wolf from the door until i find another 'real job'

while i was 'working' i was able to pay off my CC and some other bills. i've lived for years well with-in my means, i don't worry about money too much. and i got some useful talents, i'll get by ok.

also get to ride my bike more - almost worth being unemployed. :)

21. of bike riding
you know up here is a mecca for riding - with our own popular little quasi-cult film in ode to town/gown snobbery and a classic bike race. Each fall the "Hoosier Hilly One Hundred" draws riders from far afield from here. Of course riding in rolling hills is a tad different than the terrain you have down there.

That - is about all I know about the wonderful world of bike racing. That - and being adept at cursing (silently, inside the car, of course) at the college racing teams in the Spring riding four abreast on narrow country roads in the area.

and do what i call 'urban-trekking'. i stay off the roads. sidewalks, alleys, back streets, parks, trails, parking garages, etc, are my 'backwoods'.

much more fun than grinding out endless miles on road bike! :) and st pete is great for what i like to do.

27. ah... but
the students look like they are having sooooooo much fun on the endless hills around here... and frankly though riding is big - we hoosiers don't have our car courtesy down very well compared to what I experienced back in the bay area (when I did actually ride - more for transportation than sheer fun - from time to time).

15. I'm not a big fan of playing in crawlspaces
Edited on Fri Oct-10-03 04:48 PM by geniph
I'm the one who always gets to do it at home, because my husband really doesn't fit. Plus, he's a bit more spider-phobic than I am, and the suckers down there could drive my car. They bite, too, so I usually wear a rain slicker with a hood. I do not like getting spiders on my person. I'm very live and let live with them otherwise, but they do not get to walk on me or bite me.

They're not a problem in the house when they get in, because the cats think they're the greatest kitty-toys in the world. I've never seen one with all 8 legs more than a foot from the door. The cats grab them the second they come in, and toss them around until their legs come off. Then the cats are bored with them, and come whining to me to get them another toy.

They well deserve their name - Giant House Spider. The nice thing about them is that they prey on hobo spiders and recluses.

I do sympathize, Uly - some of the worst labor I've ever done in my life was digging out a crawlspace for my ex-boyfriend's mother. Horrible, horrible work.

All that aside, we will do our best, however, to talk you out of any underthehouse induced shock.
