How come every time I "update" something on my computer
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 07:42 PM by rockymountaindem
it works worse than before? Isn't the idea for it to work better?

I updated to Windows Media player 10 recently, and now I'm having trouble listening to a particular CD of mine. It's skipping all over the place, and it keeps telling me there's no disc in the drive. I never had problems before. I know it's not because of the CD because I just played it on my walkman.

This is why I always avoid updates unless they're for virus definitions.

On edit: at this rate Media Player 11 is going to wreck my whole system.

1. Depends on what you are updating.
Bugfixes and security fixes are one thing, but updating to a new version of software (such as Media player 9 to 10) that most likely adds new features to previous version is a crap shoot.

3. I don't understand why
computers aren't as easy to use as a toaster. Or at least no harder than driving a car, even a stick shift. But no, every time you upgrade or change one thing, something else no longer works right.

My husband is a computer professional in his day job. I don't understand how someone with out a computer professional in the household ever manages.

If we ever get divorced I won't need child support, I won't need alimony, all I'll ask for is continued tech support for the rest of my life.

And lost all my Favorites. Dammit. Now I have to try and remember what I had bookmarked.
