1. I liked him, but he was very tame.

Of course, probably half of the people in the auditorium have never seen his act before.

2. Horrible host, but not all his fault.

The directing on this Oscars was shit. I think a monkey hitting keys could have gotten a better series of shots.

Mr. Rock seemed rather lost, too, as if not enough rehearsals were scheduled or attended.

I for one would like to see someone who is not a comedian host the awards. Why not have, say, Steven Spielberg host one year. It certainly would be more interesting, he might have some good stories to tell and at least you couldn't blame him if asshat like Bruce Vilanch wrote a bunch of horrible jokes.

or Whoopi Goldberg. About 400,000 times better than David Letterman (THAT experience was a disaster, IMO)

Chris Rock rocked as Oscar host. I hope he's asked again next year. :-)

I did not love him as the host, but I think he did a good job. I do not think he sucked. I think as the show went on he tried to tell less jokes. At the beginning of the show he was great with the jokes then later on it seems like they became less.

18. Problems were bigger than Chris. Biance sang THREE songs...

all of which sucked. Couldn't they afford to bring in some other singers? Or maybe they couldn't find anyone else willing to sing that crap. Can't believe Prince kept a straight face when handing out the music awards.

They gave awards in the aisles!!! CHEAP! (liked C. Rock's joke about this...about the Oscar drive-thru awards).

Chris got alot of laughs for the Bush bashing but was pretty uneven all night and didn't take charge the way other hosts have. Maybe it was censorship problems or poor direction.

Everything seemed a little off-center and flat. Chris's humor seemed more appropriate for a roast than an awards ceremony. Billy Crystal's humor at the expense of fellow actors is more appropriate and less caustic.
