Anyone Else Disappointed By Chris Rock's Oscar Performance?

He just didn't do it for me. Actually, this whole Academy Awards seemed sloppily put together and poorly managed.

Or just about anyone else who's hosted in the past few years.

Not bad for a first-timer who had to watch what he said. (Like anyone had to worry, though. Wasn't he on some, uh, live network TV show for a few years?)

predictable and sometimes sloppy. Although for the sloppy part, they were trying new things so maybe it just had to do with that?

4. The whole evening was pretty dull. Why was Chris dissin' Jude Law?

Didn't get it at the time, as I think most everyone thinks pretty highly of his talents.
I happen to agree tha Russell Crow is exceptional, but just don't get what that whole rant was about. So I wasn't surprised when, later in the show, Sean Penn spoke up in defense of Jude.

Didn't get Chris's response to Sean either...what did he mean when he later said that Sean should contact his accountants?

Anyway, the whole evening was kind of like that. Uneven, dull, and surprisingly unentertaining. I mean any program that has one singer (Biance) do all three major female vocals is just weird! Didn't like her voice or the songs she sang. Is Hollywood short on good singers? Or was it a budget decision? The people getting their awards in the aisles?????! Cheap! (I did like Chris's comment that in the future the Oscars will be like a drive through fast food joint).

A very forgetable event.

5. The "accountants"

that was a reference to an earlier sketch in which Rock brought out two very large black men with Jewish names as representatives of Price Waterhouse Cooper -- the firm that handles the oscar voting.

8. Ohhhhh yeah....the big thugs in shades. Another comic miss imo.

I like Chris, but he just wasn't very funny tonight...with the exception of the Bush jokes which had everyone laughing.

The Jude joke MIGHT have been funny if he really was a bad actor, but that's not the case so it didn't make sense. And Rock seemed sincere in his flattery of Russell Crow so you have to assume his opinion of Jude was how he really feels (but nobody really shares that opinion).

If you want to see how he SHOULD have hosted look at his first gig hosting the MTV 'VMAs'

That was the best hosting job i had ever seen in my life. He just shredded mindless pop-stars people left and right and it was all richly deserved.

How can you beat his introduction for Britney Spears?

Very relaxed, had some funny stuff. Kept the show moving. I like the bit he did when he was asking the people at the cineplex which movies they thought were the best of the year. Great stuff. :-)
